Viral Parfum is an olfactory installation by Maki Ueda that explores the parallels between the spread of airborne viruses and the diffusion of scents. The work features six distinct scent accords, each representing different mutations of the coronavirus. These scents are invisible under normal lighting but become visible under blacklight, allowing visitors to perceive the otherwise unseen spread of the virus. By engaging the sense of smell, the installation offers a sensory experience that reflects on the impact of the pandemic and the importance of environmental awareness in public health.
