Symbiosis is a performative, multiuser, and multisensory VR installation by POLYMORF and Studio Biarritz. Set 200 years into the future on a post-human Earth, participants embody hybrid beings, such as slime mould, monarch butterflies, toads, orchids, or AI, through immersive VR and soft robotic wearables that physically reshape posture and movement. The experience engages all five senses: visual landscapes, spatial audio, scent emissions, haptic feedback, and tasting virtual and vegetarian snacks. Drawing inspiration from Donna Haraway’s Staying with the Trouble, the installation explores speculative symbiosis as a future mode of interspecies and intersystemic coexistence on a planet reshaped by climate cataclysm.
