Iapoti’kaba is a sensory installation by Karola Braga, showcased at the 13th Mostra 3M de Arte in São Paulo. The work invites visitors to traverse an olfactory spiral that encapsulates the life cycle of the jabuticaba tree, native to the Atlantic Forest. Through scents of earth, grass, wood, jabuticaba flower, ripe fruit, and decomposition, the installation evokes the interconnectedness of life and death, emphasizing their roles as interdependent phases within a continuous ecological flow. The absence of the physical tree is compensated by the presence of its aromas, encouraging a reimagined sensory engagement with nature and highlighting the importance of biodiversity and environmental awareness.
