Fragments

As part of the artistic research project Field_Trip: Dissolutions, a field trip was conducted with 4 Montreal researchers and artists in the Rouyn-Noranda region. This project is an investigation into the material origins of digital culture. During the field trip, they explored former mining areas in order to locate metallic minerals such as copper, gold, pyrite and stibnite. These minerals were processed using historical distillation and smelting techniques.

They photographed the landscapes, then developed silver films using an eco-processing process to which they added samples of water and soil from these mining sites.

Following these experiments, they integrated other elements into the composition of these images via photogram (minerals, found objects, etc.).
