Climate Parliament is a site-specific, interactive installation by Rafael Lozano‑Hemmer at Rice University’s Moody Centre for the Arts (2024). Suspended beneath a semi-open walkway are 481 pendant speaker-lights, each housing a unique recording, from climate scientists, activists, scholars, and local residents, speaking on climate change. As visitors pass underneath, sensors trigger waves of sound and light, transforming movement into a resonant, immersive chorus. The LED rings flicker with the voice activity, producing visual rhythms akin to crashing sea waves. This polyphonic arcade dramatises climate discourse through embodied, communal interaction, framing ecological urgency as a shared civic parliament.
