With the work Bodies of Water, she focused on Glomma, Norway’s longest river. Along Strandpromenaden in Fredrikstad city, a sculptural body that functions as a listening and observation station can be encountered between September 2023 and May 2024.
The sound works are based on sound recordings taken around and in the river, which are then affected by continuous measurements from sensors placed in the river by NIVA – Norwegian Institute for Water Research.
The sensors measure temperature, pH value, turbidity, organic matter and conductivity. Each of the measurements continuously changes the recordings with different effects, including speed, complexity, pitch, tonality, and volume.
The sculpture’s body also includes some of the river’s materials: rubbish fished up from Glomma in Fredrikstad and clay collected from the riverbank in Østfold.
